Tribunal de Dakar : Le journaliste Falil Gadio relaxé, Ousseynou Ndiaye condamné
The Dakar court of summary jurisdiction tried journalist Falil Gadio and young Ousseynou Ndiaye on Wednesday. Ndiaye was charged with condoning a crime or offense, while Gadio was accused of complicity.
During a demonstration, Ousseynou Ndiaye spoke to Sénégal7. In his remarks, he called on young people to commit acts of aggression. In court, he apologized, claiming he had made the statement in the heat of the moment. For his part, journalist Falil Gadio stated that he had corrected Ndiaye, maintaining that his comments were serious.
In its closing arguments, the prosecution deferred to the court's judgment regarding the journalist. However, the prosecutor requested a six-month suspended sentence for Ousseynou Ndiaye.
The defense, represented by lawyers Aboubacry Barro and Sayba Danfakha, pleaded for leniency from the court. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the court acquitted journalist Falil Gadio and sentenced Ousseynou Ndiaye to two months' imprisonment, suspended.
