Tribunal de Fatick : « J'attends qu'il s'endorme pour pouvoir dormir », le témoignage d'un père battu par son fils
A family dispute led a father to take his own son to court. B. Sow sued A. Sow for assault and battery and death threats. The defendant appeared in court this Wednesday, facing charges of flagrant offense, before the Fatick High Court.
In court, the plaintiff recounted a conflict that has lasted for nearly ten years, which he attributes to his son's alcoholism. He claims to live in constant fear. "I am not at peace in my own home. When he is drunk, I wait until he falls asleep before I can sleep. He regularly threatens me," he stated, adding that he had been choked and violently pushed away.
For his part, the defendant categorically denied these accusations. "I didn't do anything to him. He's the one who beat me," he maintained before the judges.
The prosecutor, considering the facts sufficiently established, requested a sentence of two years imprisonment, including six months of mandatory imprisonment, as well as a fine of 100,000 FCFA.
After deliberation, the court acquitted A. Sow of the charge of making death threats, but found him guilty of assault and battery. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 FCFA.
