Tribunal de Thiès : 15 jours de prison ferme pour un mari violent
The Thiès court delivered its verdict this Monday, March 16, 2026, in a domestic violence case. The defendant, MB, was prosecuted for assault and battery against his wife, following an argument allegedly stemming from jealousy.
In court, the man readily admitted to the facts. While he acknowledged hitting the victim, he insisted that it was "the first and only time," before expressing his regret and apologizing to the court.
The public prosecutor, considering the facts to be established, requested the application of the law. After deliberation, the judge found MB guilty of assault and battery against his spouse. He was sentenced to three months in prison, with 15 days to be served, and fined 20,000 FCFA.
