Un téléphone portable cassé vire au drame : le jakartaman A. Dramé prend 10 ans de prison
The criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court delivered its verdict on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in the murder case involving motorcycle taxi driver A. Dramé. The 25-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison for killing his companion, D. Ndiaye. He had been tried on Monday, March 9, for this crime, which occurred in 2022 in Tivaouane.
The tragedy stemmed from a dispute between the two men over a damaged cell phone. The victim, D. Ndiaye, had gone to A. Dramé's home to demand repairs, believing it had been damaged during an initial altercation at their parking spot. A second fight then broke out, during which the defendant fatally stabbed his colleague.
In court, the accused denied any intention to kill. According to his version of events, he had initially intervened at the Jakarta bus stop to separate D. Ndiaye from another person. Later, the victim allegedly came to attack him at his home. A. Dramé claimed he dodged a knife blow from the victim before grabbing the weapon, which, according to him, unintentionally struck D. Ndiaye in the stomach during the struggle.
The defendant's mother testified in favor of her son, stating that the victim had come to their home armed with a stick to provoke a fight. She maintained that she had never seen her son in possession of a knife that day.
The public prosecutor, however, considered the murder charges to be proven, given the violence of the blows. Taking into account the fact that the victim had gone to the defendant's home, the prosecution had requested a five-year prison sentence. The court ultimately took a harsher stance, handing down a ten-year prison sentence.
