Seneweb reveals details of an attempted bribery case targeting a judge from the 2nd chamber of the Pikine-Guédiawaye court. According to our exclusive information, Prosecutor Saliou Dicko ordered the arrest of businessman Cheikh Guèye and spiritual advisor Hady Sy. The two men were apprehended yesterday by officers from the Keur Massar Research Brigade.Our sources indicate that Cheikh Guèye, who is charged in a corruption case involving former minister Ismaïla Madior Fall, sought to contact the investigating magistrate handling his file. To do so, he allegedly enlisted the services of religious figure Hady Sy, to whom he gave the sum of 10 million FCFA (approximately $16,300 USD) to secure a meeting with the judge.Once contact was established, Cheikh Guèye went to the magistrate's office, where he offered a suitcase containing the 10 million FCFA in an attempt to bribe him. Judge Maguette Thiam firmly rejected the attempt before having him expelled from his office.Informed of the incident, Prosecutor Saliou Dicko immediately initiated a judicial procedure, leading to the arrest of the two suspects. Currently in police custody, Cheikh Guèye and Hady Sy are scheduled to appear before the prosecutor this Monday.
