Verdict à Thiès : 5 ans de prison pour le redoutable "gang des motos" de Keur Modou Ndiaye
The criminal chamber of the Thiès High Court has delivered its verdict in the case involving C. Ndiaye, SS Dieng, and B. Ndiaye. These three defendants were prosecuted for conspiracy, armed robbery committed at night, and carrying and using a weapon. They were tried on April 15, 2026. After deliberation, the chamber found SS Dieng and B. Ndiaye guilty and sentenced each to five years' imprisonment. Regarding C. Ndiaye, the chamber declared itself incompetent to try him due to his minority.
As a reminder, the gang had a recurring scheme to trap motorcycle taxi drivers (Jakarta). A man named C. Ndiaye acted as bait: he hired drivers to take him to Keur Modou Ndiaye. Once he arrived in an isolated area or at a fake house, his accomplices would appear, armed with machetes, to attack the driver and steal his vehicle.
Several victims, including A. Thiaw, A. Kâ, K. Diop, D. Sall, S. Ndiaye, and MM Thioub, testified to having been lured into the same trap. During the preliminary investigation, the accused admitted to committing at least three assaults and even returned one of the stolen motorcycles. A search of SS Dieng's residence uncovered a machete used in the crimes.
In court, the defendants radically changed their story, denying any involvement and claiming they had never assaulted anyone. They took advantage of the victims' absence from the hearing to try to exonerate themselves. However, the public prosecutor dismissed these denials, arguing that the existence of a "criminal enterprise" was clear. The prosecution therefore requested a 10-year prison sentence for them.
The defense, led by Mr. Faty, had pleaded for acquittal, arguing that there was no "irrefutable" evidence apart from the initial statements and that the doubt should benefit the accused.
