Vol de téléphone : deux ans dont huit mois ferme requis contre un conducteur de moto Jakarta
The court in Thiès examined a case of snatching a mobile phone involving O. Kâ, 25 years old, a Jakarta motorcycle driver residing in the Nguinth district.
In court, the plaintiff, A. Mass, explained that his phone was snatched by two individuals riding a motorcycle. According to his account, it was the man sitting on the back of the motorcycle who stole the device before fleeing.
For his part, O. Kâ categorically denied the allegations. The Jakarta driver gave a completely different version of events. He claims he was leaving the Thiès regional hospital to go to Nguinth when he was hit by another motorcycle, which he says caused him foot injuries.
“I was driving while talking on the phone. After the accident, I was sitting on the road cleaning the blood from my feet when people came and said that I had committed a snatch theft. However, I was alone on my motorcycle and I did not steal any phones,” he argued in court.
Despite these denials, the public prosecutor considered the facts to be sufficiently serious and requested a two-year prison sentence, including eight months of mandatory imprisonment, against the defendant.
For its part, the defense, led by Mr. Ayi, argued for the acquittal of its client. The lawyer maintained that no physical evidence or direct testimony established that his client was the perpetrator of the alleged theft.
The court has taken the case under advisement.
