Gims couronné artiste masculin de l'année à la cérémonie des Flammes
Singer and rapper Gims, the most listened-to artist in France in 2025, was crowned male artist of the year Thursday night at the Flammes awards, for rap and popular culture.
"It shows me that the work has been seen, that the effort has been recognized," Gims said in a recorded message. He was absent from the ceremony, nearly a month after being charged with aggravated money laundering, among other things.
He was released and placed under judicial supervision as part of this investigation into a vast international money laundering network using real estate investments.
On the stage, the 39-year-old Congolese star with his inseparable dark glasses continues his concerts and the release of new tracks.
His danceable tracks ("Ciel", "Ninao"), which mix pop, afro and hip-hop, appeal to a young audience as well as his early fans ("J'me tire", "Bella").
In parallel, the artist has put together a strategy designed to be streamed as much as possible, keeping his latest project, "Le nord se souvient: L'odyssée", at the top of the charts.
Born in 1986 in Kinshasa, Gandhi Djuna, his legal name, has music in his blood, with a musician father and a brother, Dadju, also a singer. He rose to fame with the group Sexion d'Assaut, active in the 2010s.
