The Senegalese football world is in mourning. Former Teungueth FC player Sidy Diakhaté lost his life following a serious accident in Benin, where he played for Loto Popo FC.

According to a statement released by the Beninese club, the tragedy occurred on October 10, as the team was traveling to Nikki to face Cavaliers FC. "On leaving Glazoué, one of our players was violently hit by a vehicle," Loto Popo FC management said.
First taken to the Glazoué health center, then to the Dassa-Zoumé district hospital, the young Senegalese footballer was then urgently evacuated to the CNHU Hubert Koutoukou Maga in Cotonou. He lay in a coma for several days and ultimately succumbed to his injuries despite receiving intensive care.
In his twenties, Sidy Diakhaté was known for his commitment and seriousness on the pitch. After playing for Teungueth FC, he joined Benin and Loto Popo, coached by Cheikh Guėye, to give new impetus to his career. His tragic passing leaves a great void in the hearts of his teammates, his loved ones, and the entire Senegalese football family.
