Mame Farma Ndiaye : cinq choses à savoir sur la nouvelle cheffe de la DIC
The Observer has profiled the first female head of this elite police unit, founded 50 years ago. Excerpts.
1. Interim
Commissioner Mame Farma Ndiaye has replaced Mamadou Ndiaye Fall as head of the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division). Fall has left for a UN mission, and his replacement was initially expected to serve as interim head for a week. This interim period has been extended, resulting in her appointment being confirmed. "The transition period is being used by the judicial police directorate and its supervisory body to observe and evaluate," reports L'Observateur. According to sources close to the matter, the interim commissioner "has won everyone over." She met all the selection and evaluation criteria.
2. Air and Border Police
The new head of the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division) entered the National Police and Continuing Education School on April 16, 2015. She is part of the 42nd graduating class. Upon graduation, Mame Farma Ndiaye was assigned to the Directorate of Air and Border Police (DPAF), reporting to Mame Seydou Ndour and Abdou Wahabou Sall, respectively the Director General and Deputy Director General of the National Police. "There, she led the Personnel, Logistics, and Training division," reports the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
3. Economic and Financial Brigade
After several years at the DPAF (Directorate of Financial and Administrative Affairs), Mame Farma Ndiaye landed at the Directorate of Judicial Police (DPJ) in 2023, where she took command of the Economic and Financial Brigade (BEF). "For two years," recalls L'Observateur, "she led major judicial and financial investigations, forging a solid reputation for rigor and discretion." At a time when financial cases are piling up at the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division), Commissioner Ndiaye seems perfectly suited for her position.
4. IAEA
The new head of the DIC represents Senegal in Vienna, Austria, within the African Network of Frontline Staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "A role that demonstrates her ability to represent the country in sensitive technical bodies," comments L'Observateur.
5. Chief Commissioner
Mame Farma Ndiaye will soon be promoted within the police hierarchy. "She should be promoted to the rank of chief commissioner within the next two months, along with the other members of the 42nd graduating class," reports the newspaper of the Future Media Group.
