In the wake of Senegal's elimination from the 2026 World Cup, Ismaïla Sarr broke his silence to address the numerous rumors circulating about the national team. The Lions of Teranga winger firmly denied reports of an alleged fight with his teammate Pape Guèye.
In a message posted on his social media, the Senegalese international first wanted to thank the fans for their support despite the disappointment. "For the past few days, I've been receiving a huge number of messages. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support, even in the most difficult moments, gives us the strength to keep moving forward," he wrote.
Ismaïla Sarr then dismissed the rumors of tension within the group. "There has never been any altercation between Pape Guèye and me. That's completely false. In difficult times, some try to create divisions. Our response will always be the same: to remain united," he affirmed, putting an end to the speculation.
Aware of the fans' frustration after the Lions' elimination, the player, who came up through the Génération Foot youth system, acknowledged the disappointment shared by the entire team. According to him, the players are the ones most affected by this failure, as they shared the same ambitions as the whole nation.
The former FC Metz player, however, urged Senegalese fans not to forget the national team's recent successes. He reminded them that this generation has brought great joy to the country and believes these memories should serve as motivation for future successes.
Already looking ahead to the upcoming challenges, Ismaïla Sarr emphasized that Senegal will have to defend its continental title in a year. He asserted that the rebuilding process begins now and promised a team determined to learn from this setback in order to come back stronger.
The Crystal Palace player, who scored four goals at the 2026 World Cup, called for unity between players and fans. "Let's stay united. It is through unity, faith, and hard work that the greatest stories are written," he concluded.
