Mort de l’étudiant Abdoulaye Ba : Ousmane Sonko déplore l’usage de la force à l'université
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko deplored, on Wednesday in the Council of Ministers, the use of force in the demonstrations that took place at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar, which led to the death of student Abdoulaye Ba.
Addressing the situation in universities, particularly in Dakar, the head of government expressed his "deep sadness" following this tragic death. He offered his condolences to the family of the deceased, the university community, and the entire Senegalese people.
Ousmane Sonko stressed the need to shed full light on the circumstances of this tragedy. He called on the Minister of Justice to ensure that all legal proceedings are carried out and that everyone held responsible.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of continuing the reforms undertaken in higher education. He encouraged the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation to intensify efforts aimed at sustainably improving governance and living and studying conditions in universities.
Regarding security, he asked the Minister of the Interior and Public Security to continue working towards the complete security and pacification of university spaces.
