Ndogou au palais avec Diomaye : L’«amère» conclusion du député Ismaila Diallo au terme de la rencontre
Ismaila Diallo was among the Pastef MPs who participated in the "Ndogou" (a traditional meal) hosted by Professor Bassirou Diomaye Faye this Friday. Like his colleague Abdoulaye Thomas Faye, the First Vice-President of the National Assembly did not appear to leave the meeting reassured, even though its purpose was to clear up misunderstandings and initiate a more positive dynamic. In his view, Professor Diomaye seems to be giving more weight to his coalition than to Pastef. His full reaction is below.
“In decisive political moments, differences in approach must never obscure the essentials: loyalty to the project and consistency of commitment. It is in this spirit of openness and responsibility that Ousmane Sonko facilitated the meeting between members of the party and Brother Diomaye, President of the Republic.”
The objective was clear: to prioritize dialogue, dispel misunderstandings and above all to encourage a refocusing around the collective ambition that has generated so much hope among the Senegalese.
This approach reflected a sincere desire for reconciliation, but also a reminder of a fundamental political truth: no transformative project can thrive sustainably without the solid foundation of the political force that initiated it. However, it is clear that President Diomaye now seems to place more trust in his coalition than in the party that formed the basis of his political legitimacy.
Certainly, the formation of a coalition was a matter of administrative, strategic, and electoral necessity. It allowed for the pooling of diverse energies and broadened the base of the coalition. But it would be simplistic, even inaccurate, to overlook the central role of Pastef and its natural leader, Ousmane Sonko, the true driving force behind the historic victory in the presidential election.
The electoral dynamics observed during the legislative elections, through the performances of the Pastef–Les Patriotes coalition with Ousmane Sonko still at the head of the list, only confirmed this reality: popular confidence was first crystallized around a party, a leadership and a clearly identified project.
Beyond the immediate circumstances, the challenge remains political and moral: to preserve the coherence of the project, consolidate grassroots trust, and maintain the organic link between the exercise of power and the citizen force that made it possible. Only under these conditions can the hope born of this change of power be transformed into lasting results for Senegal.
