The Alliance for the Republic (APR) is outraged by the highly controversial decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Senegal of its African championship title.

In a statement sent to Seneweb, its National Executive Secretariat expressed its strong indignation at what it described as "a flagrant injustice".

"This decision, which comes in obscure circumstances and is devoid of any sporting basis, is perceived by our party as an affront to the Senegalese nation. It undermines the integrity of football and shows a lack of respect for the Lions and the Senegalese people," the statement said.

"This title, won on the field with courage and determination, cannot be confiscated by occult maneuvers," insists the political party, denouncing an attack on the integrity of African football.

Call for national unity

In response to this situation, the APR calls on the Senegalese people to remain calm and dignified. The party urges them to transform their anger into collective strength, emphasizing the need to preserve national cohesion. "Our strength lies in unity and resilience," the statement underlines, urging the people not to succumb to division.

Support for the Senegalese Football Federation

The APR also expressed its solidarity with the Senegalese Football Federation, encouraging it to pursue all possible legal avenues to defend Senegal's interests. According to the party, the ongoing struggle is one of "national honor, truth, and respect."

Concern for supporters detained in Morocco

Finally, the APR expressed its concern about the situation of Senegalese supporters currently detained in Morocco. The party stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and called for a positive outcome.

He encourages the Moroccan authorities to show clemency and reaffirms his support for the compatriots concerned, while pleading for their swift release.
