Jubilé de l'église Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste : 2 500 participants attendus à Sédhiou
On December 26, 27 and 28, 2025, the Catholic church of Saint John the Evangelist in Sédhiou celebrates its 150th anniversary.
A moment of reconversion, forgiveness, fraternity and communion, according to Father Thierry Sagna.
During a press conference this Monday in front of the church, the priest raised the alarm to invite the faithful to pay their dues to meet the needs estimated at 15 million CFA francs.
Indeed, 2,500 people are expected at this jubilee and so far, the organizing committee has not yet received any subsidies or support from local and state authorities.
Nevertheless, the organizers remain optimistic, maintaining that with faith, mountains can be moved. That is why the program remains ambitious and enticing.
There will be a carnival, a festival, "diambandong" (leaf dance), photo exhibitions, but also a religious page of intense prayers for peace and prosperity in Senegal.
To ensure the success of the event, a request to organize a departmental development committee (CDD) was sent to the prefect for better involvement of health, safety, hygiene and other services.
