Korité in Matam: Homosexuality and the education of young people, the Imam's truths

During the Korité prayer, celebrated this Saturday, March 21, the imam of Matam, Ceerno Mohamed Abass, delivered a sermon emphasizing Islamic values and the importance of children's education. He urged the faithful to maintain good practices while firmly denouncing behaviors he described as contrary to nature, particularly homosexuality and lesbianism, the increase of which he deplored.

In his message, the religious leader spoke at length about the social problems that have been shaking society lately. According to him, these attitudes represent a moral decline condemned by the Muslim religion. The imam reminded the audience that, in Islam, the family is based exclusively on marriage between a man and a woman, a union essential to ensuring stability and the continuity of lineage.

He stated that homosexuality remains strictly forbidden in Islam, as it constitutes a transgression of the limits established by God since the beginning of time. In this regard, he repeatedly referred to the story of the Prophet Lot, mentioned in the Quran, where the behavior of his people is described as indecent. Furthermore, Ceerno Mohamed Abass emphasized the paramount importance of educating young people to prevent and correct behaviors he considers deviant.

He urged parents to invest more in rigorous guidance and support for their children from a young age, in order to direct them onto the right path. At the beginning of his sermon, the imam spoke to the congregation about the profound meaning of the Korité festival. Calling for Muslim unity, solidarity, and the preservation of good morals, he exhorted the faithful to persevere in the practice of piety, devotion, and fear of God, while strengthening their spiritual commitment.
