Tabaski : l’imam Assane Diouf appelle à l’unité des musulmans et à un sursaut moral
The celebration of Eid al-Adha, commonly known as Tabaski, was marked by an important message of unity and social responsibility delivered by Imam Assane Diouf at the Jama'atou Ibadou Rahmane Mosque. In the absence of Imam Mass Diouf, currently in Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage, the religious leader led the two-rak'ah prayer before a large crowd of worshippers who had come to celebrate this major Muslim holiday.
In his sermon, Imam Assane Diouf first expressed regret over the differences observed around the celebration of Tabaski, advocating for better cohesion within the Muslim community.
"I deplore this lack of unity around the celebration of this holiday. We cannot celebrate Arafat on Tuesday and pray on Thursday. Muslims must come together around what is essential," he declared to the faithful.
The religious leader then invited believers to scrupulously respect the principles of Islam and to strengthen the education of young people in the face of the many social ills.

"I urge parents to pay attention to their children. There are many problems today and everyone must play their full role in the education and guidance of children," he insisted.
The imam also offered prayers for the Senegalese pilgrims present at Islam's holy sites. "We pray for all those currently in Mecca that Allah accepts their pilgrimage and grants them a peaceful return," he added.
Addressing certain social issues, the religious leader welcomed the adoption of a law relating to the issue of homosexuality, while denouncing illicit enrichment in all its forms.
"We must fight against illicit enrichment and pray to the Almighty for a change in behavior in order to preserve social peace," he argued.

Upon leaving the mosque, several worshippers praised the significance of the message delivered by the imam.
For Abdoulaye Sy, a worshipper we met after the prayer, the sermon was a necessary reminder in the current context. "The imam spoke about issues that concern all families. Today, parents need to be more vigilant with their children and reinforce religious values at home," he said.
Mariama Baldé, who came to celebrate Tabaski with her family, echoed this sentiment. "His call for unity is very important. Muslims must avoid divisions and prioritize solidarity and peace," she declared.
For his part, Ousmane Diatta believes that religious leaders have an essential role in preserving social values. "Sermons like today's help to raise awareness among young people and remind them of the fundamental principles of our religion," he explained.

In an atmosphere filled with religious fervor and contemplation, the faithful offered prayers for peace, stability in Senegal, and for the smooth running of the pilgrimage to Mecca.
