Thiès : La famille omarienne appelle à la préservation de la stabilité et de la cohésion sociale au Sénégal
Thousands of pilgrims are expected in Thiès on November 6, 7 and 8 for the 2025 edition of the great annual Ziarra dedicated to the late general khalifa Thierno Habibou Mountaga Tall Cheikhou Oumar Tall.
During a press conference held in the lead-up to the religious event, the Omarian family of Thiès called on the government to preserve stability, peace, and strengthen social cohesion. They urged the authorities to reinforce Quranic education, stating that "this guarantees us stability and social peace," and emphasizing that the daaras (Quranic schools) are the primary place for the education of citizens. They also called for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood within the Omarian community.
The Omarian family has extensively reiterated the meaning of the gathering, which constitutes a moment of fraternity, collective prayer, and strengthening of community bonds. Each day is designed to offer the faithful a framework for meditation, faith, and spiritual unity, faithful to the teachings and vision of Sheikh Umar Foutiyou Tall.
Each year, under the high authority of Thierno Mouhamadou Bachir Tall, general khalifa of the Omarian family, and under the aegis of Thierno Madani Tall, servant of the Omarian community, the Ziarra brings together faithful from Senegal and elsewhere to honor the memory of the illustrious guides Thierno Seydou Nourou Tall and Thierno Mountaga Ahmad Tall, continuators of the spiritual and educational work of Cheikh Oumar Foutiyou Tall.
Reading the Holy Quran will be at the center of the program for this event, which was suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19, before being resumed in 2023. The innovation this year is that the Ziarra will be held with all the Quranic schools of Thiès and all the brotherhoods of Senegal.
