TikTok, IA et « virus de la dépravation » : Le plan de riposte des Moustarchidines pour sauver la jeunesse
The curtains have closed on the 29th edition of the Ramadan Universities, centered around the theme: "The Ummah in the face of the contemporary world: challenges, divisions, and recompositions." For almost the entire blessed month, the religious city of Tivaouane hosted this major cultural and intellectual event, which has become a cornerstone for the Muslim community.
Sheikh Al Seydi Mouhamadou Moustapha Sy Al Makhtoum graced the solemn closing ceremony of this major event, initiated by the Dahiratoul Moustarchidina Wal Moustarchidaty (DMWM), with his presence. This Senegalese spiritual movement, which originated in Tivaouane in the early 1970s, promotes religious education and the pursuit of "right guidance," while also distinguishing itself through its high-level intellectual activities.
A synergy between religious and academic institutions
“A particularly successful edition,” rejoiced Cheikh Tidiane Sarr, coordinator of the scientific committee. He praised the high level of the debates, led by leading figures from diverse backgrounds. Speakers from major religious centers in Senegal (Touba, Tivaouane, Medina Baye, Ndiassane, Diamal, among others) mingled with eminent academics such as Professors Souleymane Bachir Diagne, Mbaye Thiam, and Bakary Samb, as well as experts and teachers from the movement.
The event provided an opportunity to delve deeper into the ideological and doctrinal divisions that currently plague the Ummah, particularly between Sunnis and Shiites. The sessions highlighted that, beyond the political schism between Iran and its adversaries, this division has a profound spiritual dimension linked to differing beliefs.
Protecting youth from the "viruses of depravity"
From the very first lecture, Mame Cheikh Capitaine had outlined the main themes. Two topics particularly captivated the Muslim youth. The first, entitled "Muslim Youth Facing Agendas of Moral Destruction," denounced the lobbies working to instill the seeds of depravity and moral decay in young people. The Moustarchidines asked themselves: "How can we confront these lobbies and these agendas today, whose sole objective is the moral destruction of our youth?"
Artificial Intelligence through the lens of ethics
The second major theme focused on "Artificial Intelligence in Light of Ethics and Islamic Values." For the followers of Serigne Moustapha Sy, while new technologies and social networks (TikTok, the internet, etc.) are invaluable learning tools, they also carry a negative side that Islamic values reject. The challenge, according to them, is to enable young people to benefit from these digital tools without falling into the traps and pitfalls they generate.
