Preparations for the annual Ziarra of Diamal, scheduled for January 31, 2026, are entering a crucial phase. To this end, an evaluation meeting was held at the Kaffrine governorate between the organizing committee and the region's administrative and security authorities.

Mor Cissé, president of the organizing committee for the Diamal pilgrimage (Ziarra), explained that the meeting aimed to review the arrangements already in place and anticipate future needs for better event organization. "Today, we met at the Kaffrine governor's office to assess the arrangements put in place for the Diamal pilgrimage. This meeting aimed to review the preparations and lay the groundwork for an organization that meets the standards required for a major international religious event," he stated.

According to him, a meeting with the governor allowed them to address the main concerns related to the organization. "It was essentially about listing the different needs, diagnosing the challenges related to the organization, and gathering commitments from administrative and security authorities in order to better meet the expectations of the population," Mor Cissé explained.

Regarding water resources, the organizing committee has appealed to the central government, particularly the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, for the construction of a new water tower in Diamal. This infrastructure is considered essential to guarantee a reliable supply of drinking water during the critical periods of the Gamou festival and to prevent any disruptions to the services provided.

Concerns were also raised regarding health. The chairman of the organizing committee specifically deplored the lack of a fully equipped ambulance at the Diamal health post.

With less than two weeks to go before the event, an appeal is being made to the Ministry of Health to provide the locality with an ambulance, to ensure rapid and effective interventions in case of emergency.

Regarding security, the defense and security forces have reassured the public about the deployment of appropriate measures. Personnel will be present on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to ensure the safety of people and their property and to guarantee the smooth running of the event in accordance with applicable regulations.

Electrification is also a priority. An extension of the electricity grid is needed, as Diamal is experiencing rapid urban growth with the emergence of new concessions, while the existing network remains insufficient to meet all needs.

However, Mor Cissé remains optimistic: "To date, Diamal has the necessary assets to host the Ziarra of January 31, 2026 in good conditions, provided that the concerns raised are addressed quickly."

Finally, he recalled the historical dimension of the 3rd edition of the annual Ziarra of Diamal, which will mark three decades of religious fervor and spiritual communion.
