In Dakar, the approach of Tabaski plunges every household into a frantic search for a ram. In every neighborhood, makeshift livestock markets and improvised stalls spring up, where animals are displayed, bargained for, and then carefully selected. It's a centuries-old tradition, an unchanging ritual, but also a profession historically reserved for men.

Yet, Marième Diouf Ndour decided to write a completely different version of this story. She transformed her own terrace into an enclosure, her smartphone into a shop window, and the social network TikTok into a veritable open-air marketplace. Where others erect physical barriers, she sets up a tripod and a camera. Where word-of-mouth is traditionally relied upon, she strategically bets on the power of digital. At the helm of the Ndour sheep farm for two years now, she is shaking up the established order.

More than thirty head of cattle are currently under her exclusive care. She manages the animals' daily needs, answers the constant stream of calls, conducts negotiations, and organizes the logistics of deliveries throughout the capital. She expertly manages the entire value chain with the rigor and vision of a true business leader. Her husband is by her side, encouraging and supporting her every step of the way in this venture.

The journey, however, is far from easy. Around her, criticism sometimes flies in a still very conservative environment. Social pressure mounts, physical fatigue accumulates, but she perseveres. Sustained by the unwavering support of her husband and loved ones, she embraces this role with immense pride. For her, the cattle trade is no longer simply a matter of folkloric tradition: it is now fertile ground for technological innovation.

Marième Diouf Ndour doesn't intend to stop there. While digital platforms will remain essential allies, her professional ambitions are looking further ahead. She already plans to expand her herd and open her own physical facility in order to establish herself permanently among the top caterers in Dakar during the peak season.
