Affectations jugées injustes à l’hôpital Mame Abdou de Tivaouane : Les blouses blanches s'indignent
Workers at the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh hospital in Tivaouane are protesting against what they consider unfair targeted transfers to the new Seydi El Hadj Malick Sy hospital and are demanding the rehabilitation of their health facility.
"We are moving towards a series of actions to express our disagreement with the targeted assignments of certain specialists to the new hospital," announce these workers grouped within an inter-union composed of Sutsas, Syntras, Sames, Satsus, Sdt/3S and Sacsas.
They deplore the deterioration of their hospital's infrastructure, the problems related to electricity, and the repercussions of the upcoming opening of the new hospital.
During a general assembly attended by around one hundred staff members, including the general secretaries of the relevant unions, the health staff demanded the "complete rehabilitation" of the Mame Abdou hospital, which is currently shaken by unfavorable staff transfers.
The inter-union group has announced that red armbands will be worn starting next Monday at 10:00 AM, followed by a sit-in and a press conference scheduled for Wednesday. A request for a peaceful march will also be submitted to the relevant authorities. In addition, awareness campaigns about the situation will be conducted with religious, political, and administrative authorities.
The hospital management, for its part, specifies that the supervisory authority plans to redeploy five specialists for training before the opening of the new hospital: two pulmonologists, two neurologists and a surgeon.
The director, Yoro Diagne, who informed the ministry of his desire to keep his only general surgeon, would like to retain all of his staff in order to "continue the momentum undertaken" within the establishment.
In his view, two options remain possible: transfer all staff to Seydi El Hadj Malick Sy or allow the current team to continue operating at Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh.
