Grève de la Fédération des syndicats de la santé : Sedhiou liste ses maux
On behalf of the Federation of Health Unions, spokesperson Cheikh Seck and Souleymane Joe Mané explained the reasons for their protest during a press conference following their general assembly. The healthcare workers are demanding the permanent hiring of contract employees who have been in precarious employment for nearly two decades. "Eighteen years of contract work is enough," exclaimed the federation's vice-president.
Healthcare workers also denounce the staff shortage estimated at 22,000 employees that the State was supposed to address annually with the recruitment of 3,500 new hires.
Finally, the union representatives are raising the issue of subsidies for healthcare facilities and housing allowances with the authorities. Souleymane Joe Mané and his colleagues are questioning where the budgeted funds for hospital operations and the implementation of the points outlined in the memorandum of understanding are going.
"How can the ministry grant an estimated 30 billion subsidy out of a 273 billion budget and expect results?"
"It is to find out more that they have declared a 48-hour strike to make themselves heard and force the State to respect its commitments," said Cheikh Seck.
He expressed his complete satisfaction with the mobilization of his comrades who came to Sedhiou for the first time on this occasion.

Des syndicalistes qui défendent les intérêts matériels et moraux des travailleurs de la santé doivent-être encouragés. Que n'en durent pas les travailleurs de la santé, quels risques ne prennent- ils pas pour assurer aux usagers des services de la santé un mieux être malgré les conditions exécrables dans les qu'elles ils travaillent.
Ces braves syndicalistes ne sont pas des maîtres chanteurs, mais gens à encourager et à soutenir.
