Le Sénégal fait le point sur les épidémies de la fièvre de la vallée du Rift et de Mpox
As of October 20, 2025, Senegal had recorded 265 confirmed cases of Rift Valley fever and seven confirmed cases of Mpox. This is according to information from the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, which provided an update on the epidemics on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, Rift Valley fever has affected 265 people, causing 21 deaths and 207 recoveries. The Saint-Louis region remains the epicenter, with 232 cases recorded, mainly in the districts of Richard-Toll (124) and Saint-Louis (70). The regions of Matam (11 cases), Louga (10 cases), Fatick (8 cases), Dakar (2 cases), and Kaolack (2 cases) are also affected by the spread of the virus.
Regarding MPOX, nine cases (7 confirmed and 2 probable) have been recorded since August 22, 2025, all in the Dakar region. Eight patients have now recovered and no deaths have been reported. The ministry also indicates that 30 contact persons are currently being monitored.
