Sédhiou : Le Nouveau Directeur de l'hôpital régional liste les défis
Improving the technical platform and reception service, recruiting quality human resources to increase staffing levels, and improving worker conditions to motivate them. These are the challenges raised by Aboubacry Traoré, the new director of the Sédhiou hospital center, when he took office on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Dr. Traoré, a basic urologist, intends to maintain a frank collaboration with administrative and political authorities, civil society, religious and traditional authorities to meet these challenges. But he is counting much more on the populations to whom the infrastructure belongs, inviting them to visit it to promote it given its importance in relation to its location and in relation to healthcare needs.
His predecessor, who passed the baton to him, leaves with the feeling of a mission accomplished, even if he recognizes that the work is not finished.
Ousmane Seck Dam reports that in 2020, only four departments from EPS1 were transferred to EPS2. Four years later, the regional hospital has 19 departments.
