"Tir groupé" : Le plan du de riposte du ministre de la Santé face à la Fièvre de la Vallée du Rift
The Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Ibrahima Sy, presented a response plan against Rift Valley fever this Saturday in Matam, following two confirmed deaths in the districts of Thilogne and Kane. This "group response" involves care, vaccination, communication, awareness-raising, and community engagement, following five confirmed cases: three in Thilogne, one in Matam, one in Ranérou, and one in Kanel. "We came to Matam to share the response plan with stakeholders and the territorial administration. It will be necessary for everyone to adopt the group response strategy based on a prior risk assessment that will allow the plan to be better adjusted to the region's needs," Sy said during a meeting of the Regional Development Committee, attended by health authorities and stakeholders.
The plan targets the surveillance of the vector mosquito: "It will be necessary for stakeholders to strengthen vector control, because the vector is circulating and it will be necessary to find the breeding sites that are in the compounds. We strongly advise people to sleep under impregnated mosquito nets and to use repellents for livestock to kill the vector," he recommended. For prevention, he insists on "strengthening community-based surveillance to detect simple cases." In terms of treatment, hospitals and health centers are prepared for serious cases, in the absence of an Epidemic Treatment Center (ETC).
Livestock vaccination is a priority, as transmission occurs via the vector or animal handling. "Community communication and engagement must be essential to reduce the spread of the disease. This aspect must be addressed across several pillars, as the population must understand the modes of disease transmission, its causes, exposure factors, and prevention," added Sy. This fever, transmitted by infected mosquitoes, affects humans and animals, with an increased risk during the rainy season. The ministry calls for collective vigilance to contain the epidemic.

Si vous aviez organisé une riposte au tout début de l'épidémie il y a un mois, on n'allait pas enregistrer 18 morts. Vous êtes juste incompétent comme Cheikh Tidiane Diéye le ministre de l'hydraulique. Vous êtes forts seulement devant les micros.

Le Ministre de l'intérieur est-il capable d'appliquer la loi sur la divagation des animaux qui dispose que : " Les animaux trouvés errants dans les limites des communes ou des communautés rurales sont saisis et mis en fourrière. La mise en fourrière est effectuée par les soins des agents ou personnes désignés à cet effet par l’organe exécutif de la collectivité locale " ?
Et faut-il abattre les sujets malades porteurs du virus ou s'en tenir à la loi qui stipule que :
" Il est procédé à la vente aux enchères publiques à la diligence d’un agent de l’Etat nommé par décision du Préfet... "?
