127 interpellations à Dakar : un policier victime d'une tentative de meurtre lors d'une opération nocturne
As part of the fight against urban crime, Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, head of the Regional Public Security Directorate (SRSP) of Dakar, oversaw a large-scale operation during the night of Sunday, February 15th to Monday, February 16th, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. More than 200 uniformed and plainclothes police officers were deployed in crime-ridden areas of the Senegalese capital.
Following this raid, 127 individuals were arrested, including one for attempted murder of a police officer, according to Seneweb sources.
The operation, which lasted ten hours, mobilized a significant number of police officers strategically deployed in areas identified as crime hotspots. Law enforcement systematically combed these high-risk zones, leading to the arrest of a substantial number of offenders.
Of the 127 people apprehended, 72 were detained for identity checks, while 20 were arrested for public intoxication. Three people were detained for investigative purposes.
The most significant arrest of this operation involved an individual apprehended for the attempted murder of an officer in the line of duty. Law enforcement also arrested four people for resisting arrest, robbery, and obstructing police action, highlighting the violence of some of the confrontations that occurred during the night.
The violent crime aspect proved particularly significant. One individual was arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery. Three people were apprehended for conspiracy, multiple nighttime robberies, and receiving stolen goods, while another was arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery committed at night. One person was arrested for nighttime robbery, and four others were caught in the act of stealing.
Interpersonal violence was also targeted by this operation. Four individuals were arrested for assault and battery, as well as illegal possession of a bladed weapon, while two others were arrested for assault. Five people were arrested for fighting in a public place.
The drug-related aspect of the operation resulted in significant seizures. One individual was arrested for possession and trafficking of ecstasy, with 34 tablets seized. Three people were apprehended for offering and distributing marijuana, with law enforcement seizing 38 packets of the substance.
Two prostitutes were apprehended for failing to register on the health and social file, an offense.
In terms of seizures, the police confiscated 113 various items for traffic violations, illustrating the extent of the road checks carried out during this nighttime operation.
