The Minister of Urban Planning, Local Authorities and Territorial Development, Moussa Bala Fofana, conducted a site visit to a strategic construction project in the railway town this weekend. This field visit was part of the preparations for Independence Day, which the President of the Republic has chosen to relocate to Thiès this year.

The minister was keen to praise the presidential decision to entrust the organization of such an event to a local authority. "When the Head of State gave his approval, a clear action plan was presented to us. We mobilized the support of AGETIP to enable the city of Thiès to meet this challenge and demonstrate that the President was right to trust local communities," he emphasized.

The end of "budgetary discrimination" for Thiès

Moussa Bala Fofana used this visit to highlight the disparities in treatment suffered by certain localities in the past. Referring to a "negative discrimination" that deprived communities of their legal resources, he announced a major correction to the financial trajectories.

The most striking example concerns the Local Authorities Equipment Fund (FECT). The minister revealed a dramatic increase in investments: "Whereas the city of Thiès previously received less than 100 million CFA francs in support, we have complied with the decree and its allocation has risen to over one billion CFA francs." According to him, this budgetary compliance is the true driving force behind the rapid execution of current projects.

Thiès, a test for future editions

The significance of this celebration extends beyond the April 4th festivities. For the minister, Thiès serves as a large-scale test to validate the strategy of decentralizing major national events. "If we succeed in Thiès, we will reinforce this vision and encourage the President of the Republic to choose another city next year," he stated with conviction.

Moussa Bala Fofana concluded by calling on the people of Thiès to mobilize and make this celebration a historic success. His ultimate goal, he explained, is to build a nation where every city has the resources and infrastructure necessary to host major national events with dignity, while also guaranteeing a high quality of life for its citizens.

DONC NOUS RETENONS…. Que sur le fonds d’équipement des collectivités territoriales, Thiès a vu sa dotation passer de 100 millions à 1 milliard. Nous allons maintenant voir si cela se traduit en réalisations visibles et utiles pour la population. Espérons que cela ne soit pas que pour peindre des arbres et la chaussée pour un défilé. Si l’éclairage, l’assainissement, les écoles et structures de santé restent dans le même état, des comptes devront être rendus par qui de droit et surtout de devoir !

Il faut aller visiter la ville de Thiès dans ses coins et recoins. Rien que les rues qui ont été bitumees ou dallées constituent un investissement important. Ce qui valorise même le foncier avec des parcelles de plus en plus chers. Et le Maire est très engagé aussi. Il faut cependant prendre à bras le corps l'aménagement de la grande avenue qu'on appelle communément "mbédou haute tension" qui est longue de plusieurs kilomètres. Le grand défi !🫡

Ils seront sages , resteront dans les rangs et effacés jusqu’àpres le 4 avril pour éviter tout limogeage. Tous ont disparu des réseaux sociaux. Il n’y aura donc pas de remaniement !
