The Dakar region resonated with the celebrations of Senegal's 66th anniversary of independence. In Guédiawaye, the event was a fitting occasion, as noted by the Governor of Dakar, Ousmane Kane.

"It is with great satisfaction and legitimate pride that I address you at the end of this magnificent regional parade organized in the department of Guédiawaye, on the occasion of the celebration of the independence day of our country, Senegal," said the administrative authority, who was delighted with the complete success of this event, which took place in a spirit of order, discipline and perfect coordination.

The governor highlighted the innovative aspects of this Independence Day celebration. For him, the territorialization of national celebrations is a sign of bringing public action closer to citizens.

“This edition is quite special, as it marks a first in our country’s administrative history. Indeed, for the first time, the Dakar region has organized its own parade,” noted the governor, who added: “The choice of the Guédiawaye department to host this important event is not accidental. It reflects a deliberate desire to bring the celebration closer to the people, to showcase the region’s diverse territories, and to promote greater inclusion of all segments of our society in the major events of national life.”

For the administrative authority, the theme of this edition, "Defense and security forces, partners of major events", highlights the essential role of our forces in supporting international events, particularly the Youth Olympic Games.

His speech reflected the strong sense of duty of the defense and security forces. These forces are a fundamental pillar in guaranteeing a safe environment conducive to our country's influence. "I wish to extend my sincere and warmest congratulations to all components of the defense and security forces, particularly the army, the gendarmerie, the police, and the firefighters, for the quality of their service. Their rigor and commitment to republican values have been remarkable," emphasized the Governor of Dakar.
