Accès à l'électricité : Le Boudhié s’illumine sous l'impulsion de la Senelec

The Director General of Senelec visited Djiredji, a town in the Sédhiou department. This visit was part of the official commissioning of the electricity network for six villages in the area, marking a decisive turning point in the fight against social vulnerability and insecurity.

The towns of Balmadou, Diao Simancounda, Sindina, Sankadi, Tingtingcom, and Badoli are now connected to the national electricity grid. This initiative aligns perfectly with the government's policy of territorial equity, aimed at reducing the gap between urban and rural areas.

For the mayor of Djiredji, Sidy Badji, the arrival of electricity is not simply a matter of domestic convenience; it is a major driver of development that will boost income-generating activities, particularly in the agricultural processing, fish preservation, and small-scale trade sectors. In terms of security, the public lighting, which the mayor believes still needs improvement, helps to dispel the darkness, a source of anxiety for the residents of this area.

The Director General of Senelec presented a very positive assessment of the company's achievements in the Sédhiou department. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to modernize the region's energy infrastructure, while announcing that this pace would not slow down. He also specified that other localities in the department would be connected to the grid during the month.

The local population took the opportunity of this visit to voice further grievances to MP Ayib Daffé. Of the 40 villages in the Djiredji territorial collectivity, 21 are still waiting to be connected to the electricity grid.

The other major grievance raised during this visit concerned road infrastructure. The people's heartfelt plea remains the effective resumption of the road paving work on the Boudhié Loop, essential for opening up the region. In his address, the honorable member of parliament reassured the residents that the project, which will connect Sédhiou, Bambaly, Djiredji, and Marsassoum, would begin imminently.
