Actes contre nature : "Beaucoup de femmes lesbiennes sénégalaises ont quitté le pays", selon Awa Fall Diop
Awa Fall Diop, former minister and feminist committed to the fight for women's rights, was honored this Tuesday, March 24 in Dakar by the German Heinrich-Böll Foundation, which presented her with its Anne Klein 2026 prize.
During an interview on RFI's "Le grand Invité Afrique" program, she addressed the issue of increased repression targeting homosexuals. She emphasized that many lesbian women have left the country out of fear.
"Many Senegalese women who are lesbians have left the country. It's extraordinary when you don't feel safe in your own country," she denounced.
According to her, even within the feminist movement, addressing this subject is becoming delicate. "Today, even within the feminist movement, talking about this issue is becoming problematic because when you talk about it, people say you're advocating for it, they say you're promoting it. This creates a toxic atmosphere," the feminist laments.
