Action sociale : La Douane au chevet des pensionnaires de la Pouponnière de la Médina

The Customs Administration reaffirmed its civic commitment this Wednesday, March 25, 2026. An official delegation visited the Medina Nursery in Dakar for a "social visit" marked by the delivery of significant donations intended for vulnerable children.

A significant boost for a centuries-old mission

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Mouhamed Niang, Head of the Communication and Public Relations Division, the delegation was received by Sister Marie-Louise Diene, Director of the institution. She emphasized "the Customs Administration's outpouring of solidarity in joining their daily mission: caring for orphans, abandoned children, and other vulnerable individuals."

The nursery, a veritable institution that has been operating since 1955, currently cares for at least 92 children, aged 0 to 4. In this context, this contribution was described as considerable, allowing them to continue providing the best possible care for these precious little ones. Beyond the material assistance, the Director also praised the customs service's performance and the dedication of the agents who work to ensure the safety and well-being of the population.

The "Customs-Population" concept in action

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Mouhamed Niang paid tribute to "the commitment of the Sisters who have dedicated their lives to the community" and to their "selflessness, which offers these innocent children a fulfilling life." Conveying a message of solidarity from the Director General of Customs, Babacar Mbaye, he emphasized that this initiative aligns with the institution's overall vision.

The Head of the DCRP highlighted the "Customs-Community" concept, an approach that humanizes the administration and "justifies such social action." Expressing the "customs authority's awareness of the significant responsibility involved in caring for these children," he assured them that this support would not be a one-off event but "a long-term commitment." The meeting concluded with a guided tour of the facilities, offering the delegation a moving glimpse into the daily lives of the residents.
