On April 7, 2026, officers from the Yamatogne police station in Ziguinchor arrested an individual following a complaint of sexual assault on a two-year-old girl.

According to information gathered, the events took place on April 6th at around 9 a.m. The suspect, a close friend of the family, allegedly obtained permission to take the child to a nearby shop.

Worried about not seeing her daughter return, the mother began searching and eventually found the suspect with the child under a palaver tree located near the shop, before retrieving her child and returning home.

During the night of April 6-7, 2026, at around 1 a.m., the child experienced persistent crying, accompanied by acute pain in his genital area.

Alerted, the relevant authorities were notified. A medical examination led to the issuance of a certificate indicating recent traumatic injuries consistent with sexual assault.

Following a complaint filed by the victim's mother, the suspect was arrested on April 7, 2026, by officers from the Yamatogne police station in Ziguinchor, and then taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Les prédateurs sexuels ont toujours été présents dans le pays, tapis dans l'ombre, agissant de manière sournoise. Souvent eux même étaient des victimes, croyant que c'est chose normale car leur bourreau n'ayant été jamais inquiéter. Aujourd'hui ils paient pour leur bourreaux, leurs actes présents mais aussi pour une injustice faite à leur égard. DES PARENTS NON SENSIBILISES, NI SANCTIONNES POUR LEUR MEGARDE. DES GARDES A VUE DEVRAIENT COMMENCER A REGLER BEAUCOUP DE PROBLEMES SUR NOS RESPONSABILITES PARENTALES.
