AIBD : Une Ghanéenne de 50 ans arrêtée par la police avec 1 kg de cocaïne
Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass was the scene of a major hard drug seizure on September 26, 2025. A Ghanaian national was arrested in possession of one kilogram of cocaine which she was attempting to export to Cape Verde.
A discovery during security checks
The arrest took place around 7:15 p.m. at the central screening inspection post (PIF), during checks prior to boarding the scheduled Air Sénégal SA flight HC 207 to Praia.
During the security search carried out on the passenger, the police discovered two cloth bags containing a suspicious substance, carefully concealed in a bag tied around her waist.
One kilogram of cocaine seized
After verification, it turned out that the substance was indeed cocaine, with a total weight of one kilogram.
The suspect, Janet LAMPTEY WILLIAMS, a 50-year-old seamstress born in Accra, Ghana, was passing through Dakar without giving any further details on the reasons for her stay, according to Seneweb sources.
Denials and an attempt at designation
Under brief interrogation, the accused denied being the owner of the seized drugs. She attempted to identify an individual identified as KWAME as the true owner of the cocaine.
In addition to the drugs, the AIBD special police station seized several of the suspect's personal belongings:
- His Ghanaian passport
- His consular card
- His Ghanaian identity card
- 200 euros in cash
- 1,500 CFA francs
- An iPhone XR cell phone
Submission to OCRTIS for in-depth investigation
Janet LAMPTEY WILLIAMS was placed at the disposal of the Operational Division of the Central Office for the Suppression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) by the Special Commission of the AIBD.
She was taken into custody for criminal conspiracy, possession and attempted export of drugs.

Beaucoup de femmes un peu partout dans le monde acceptent d'etre utilise comme mules, pour des miettes, par ces trafiquants sans scrupules. Dommage pour elle, le proprietaire de la drogue est le transporteur moins qu'elle aide les enqueteur a traquer et arreter le sois-disant commanditaire.
IL y a trop de magouilleurs á l'aeroport même le chinois ont une personne qui les font sortir du tarmac.
Une fois j'étais accompagné d'une amie italienne au Sénégal. Au retour nous sommes tombés sur un agent qui sans gêne nous demandait si nous avions du FCFA à lui donner. Cette demande honteuse je l'ai jamais traduit en italien pour mon amie qui était curieuse de savoir notre échange.
