Alioune Sarr chez Serigne Mountakha : « Le jour où les institutions s'écroulent, personne n'est à l'abri »
Mayor of the commune of Notto Diobass and president of the political party Alliance for Senegal / Andandoo Nguir Senegaal (APS), Alioune Sarr paid a visit to the general Khalif of the Mourides, Cheikh Mountaka MBACKÉ, accompanied by a delegation composed of municipal councilors from his commune and officials from his party in the Diourbel region, including Mrs. Mame Saï Fall.
The respect due to religious leaders, pillars of the nation
Speaking to the press after his meeting, the former Minister of Commerce explained the profound significance of his visit. He stated that religious leaders deserve respect and support because of their mission to serve the nation. He emphasized that nations are distinguished by the quality of their human capital and that religious leaders provide the spaces in which the values of young people are forged. He stressed the inseparable link between faith and fundamental values, asserting that faith is synonymous with discipline, respect for institutions, love of country, and respect for elders. He warned that the day institutions collapse, no one will be safe.
The second part of the visit focused on the presentation to the Khalif of a work dedicated to the Notto Diobass Smart City project, an industrial, urban, logistics and agro-industrial development platform, intended to create decent jobs for Senegalese youth.
Alioune Sarr noted that the municipality of Notto Diobass benefits from a strategic geographical location, situated between the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD), the Ila Touba highway, and the future port of Ndayane. He welcomed the government's vote last December on the finance law enabling the establishment of the Notto Diobass industrial park. He announced that next June, a delegation will travel to Europe to present the project to developers. He believes this project is a tool for creating value and jobs for the more than 15 million young people in Senegal.
The mayor sought the Khalif's prayers for the success of the project, for Senegal, and for the preservation of the country's stability in a global geopolitical context that he described as extremely turbulent.
On the amendments to the electoral code
When questioned about the vote on the electoral code amendments in the National Assembly, Alioune Sarr preferred to remain cautious, stating that he had come solely to visit the Caliph. He nevertheless reiterated that electoral matters are consensual issues that must be discussed with all political actors, civil society, and the media.
He cited as an example the consensual electoral code of 1992-1993, developed under the presidency of the late Kéba MBAYE, as a source of inspiration for all political actors, calling for the preservation of the democratic asset that has earned Senegal so much pride throughout the world.
