Ancienne piste de l’Aéroport : deux maçons guinéens arrêtés avec du chanvre indien par la BRS de Dakar

Elements of the Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS) of Dakar, under the OCRTIS, arrested two individuals involved in Indian hemp trafficking on Friday at the old runway of Léopold Sédar Senghor Airport.

The operation follows the exploitation of intelligence indicating the existence of an open-air cannabis sales network in the area. According to the source, the trafficking is allegedly run by a foreign national identified as Diampathé B., who has settled in the area and conducts his illicit business openly and with the knowledge of local residents.

Based on this information, a team from the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention - Research and Investigation Brigade) was deployed to the location to monitor the drug dealing spot. After a short surveillance operation, the police officers witnessed a suspicious transaction between the suspected dealer and an individual who appeared to be a customer.

The officers first apprehended the buyer, identified as Oumar D., 35, a bricklayer residing at the old airstrip. A search revealed two packets of marijuana on him. When questioned about the drug's origin, he immediately identified Diampathé B. as his supplier and led the police to him.

Diampathé B., a bricklayer born in 1991 and also residing in the area, was arrested in turn with 27 packets of marijuana in his possession. A search of his room led investigators to discover a plastic bucket hidden under the bed containing 375 grams of marijuana and 74 more packets of the same product, according to Seneweb sources.

When questioned by investigators, the suspect admitted to owning the drugs, claiming to obtain them from an individual nicknamed "Bouba," without providing further details.

In total, 375 grams of Indian hemp and 101 packets were seized. Two mobile phones, as well as 13,000 CFA francs, were also found on the suspects.

The two suspects were taken into custody for conspiracy, possession of Indian hemp for the purpose of trafficking and drug use, after being informed of their rights.
