Après-midi sanglant à GOUDIRY : Une collision fait trois morts et deux blessés graves
The afternoon of the independence celebration was bloody in Goudiry! A violent accident on national road number 1, between Kanehanbé and Féténiebé, in the department of Goudiry, resulted in 3 deaths and 2 seriously injured.
The Goudiry region is in mourning. Following last weekend's tragedy, in which a life (the goalkeeper of the Gadiaga football team) was lost, the road has claimed more victims. An accident that occurred a few kilometers outside Goudiry, between Kanehanbé and Féténiebé, resulted in three deaths and two serious injuries this Saturday around 6:00 PM.
According to initial reports, a three-wheeled motorcycle carrying nine passengers returning from paying condolences collided head-on with a private vehicle driven by the owner of the Boundou pharmacy in Kidira. The owner died instantly, along with two other passengers on the three-wheeled motorcycle.
Alerted, the fire brigade deployed to the scene to evacuate the injured and transfer the lifeless bodies to the Goudiry health district.
Atoumane Sy, Director General of Anaser, immediately went to the scene of the accident and to the hospital to inquire about the care being provided to the injured. After offering his condolences to the victims' families, he deplored the excessive number of passengers on board the tricycle.
"There were 9 passengers on the tricycle. This is abnormal. A tricycle should not carry passengers but luggage. It is clearly indicated that tricycles are made to transport passengers, but there were 9 people in the tricycle," criticized CEO Atoumane Sy.
Mr. Sy also promised that measures would be taken, as well as sanctions.
