Bande verte à Yoff : Un collectif interpelle l’État pour accélérer la régularisation foncière
In Dakar, the land issue in the so-called "Green Belt," located around the Léopold Sédar Senghor Airport in Yoff, has resurfaced. In a press release, Matar Diène, representative of the collective of families holding customary land rights, calls on the authorities to finalize a regularization process initiated several years ago.
According to the group, these lands have been occupied traditionally for generations. For a long time, their regularization has been hampered by legal and technical constraints, particularly those related to airport activity and the presence of the VOR system.
But today, the situation has changed, the airport footprint has been reduced and the facilities concerned have been moved, thus paving the way for regularization.
In this context, an administrative procedure, based on the granting of leases, has been initiated. Applications have been submitted by the eligible parties, but according to the press release, they remain pending. This situation is fueling frustration and uncertainty among the affected populations.
The group highlights several major issues: the legal security of land, the reduction of social tensions, the economic development of land and better controlled urban development.
In response to this, its members are calling for an acceleration of the procedures, the establishment of a clear framework for their completion, and respect for the principle of fairness between citizens.
While reaffirming their willingness to collaborate with the relevant authorities, the signatories of the statement hope for a swift resolution to this sensitive matter, which is at the heart of Dakar's urban dynamics.
