Bargny : La drogue cachée dans une boîte de préservatifs mène à quatre arrestations, dont un Nigérian
A routine traffic stop at the Bargny TER roundabout on National Route 1 led police officers from the Bargny station to uncover a suspected drug trafficking network. Four people were arrested, including a Nigerian national identified as the supplier of crack cocaine.
A motorcyclist was stopped; crack cocaine was discovered in a box of condoms.
During this traffic stop, police officers first stopped a motorcyclist who was riding without a helmet. A security search of him revealed 1 gram of crack cocaine hidden in a box of condoms.
The suspect's initial statements led investigators to a woman residing in Rufisque, identified as the intermediary in the drug supply, and to a suspected recipient in Thiès. The woman and her brother, directly implicated in the case, were arrested.
A search of their home uncovered another gram of crack cocaine. According to Seneweb sources, the brother allegedly tried to hide the drugs to shield his sister from any involvement in the affair.
The Nigerian national arrested in Parcelles-Assainies
The information gathered then led officers from the Bargny police station's investigation unit to the Parcelles-Assainies district, where a Nigerian national, identified as the crack cocaine supplier, was arrested. A search of his room resulted in the seizure of 1.5 kg of cannabis.
During his hearing, the Nigerian admitted to supplying crack cocaine to the woman arrested in Rufisque, while denying ownership of the Indian hemp found at his home.
Four people arrested and several charges brought against them
In total, four people were arrested in this case. The seized narcotics consisted of 2 grams of crack cocaine and 1.5 kilograms of cannabis. The suspects are being prosecuted, depending on the case, for possession and trafficking of cocaine, complicity in cocaine trafficking, and trafficking of both cocaine and cannabis. The seized drugs and the motorcycle used in the operation were impounded pending their placement under seal.
The investigation continues to identify all those involved in this alleged drug trafficking network. The four suspects are scheduled to appear before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the prosecutor's office at the Rufisque High Court, on Tuesday.
