«Ce que j’ai vécu ...» : les confidences glaçantes de la compagne de l'homme qui s'est immolé avec leurs enfants
Interviewed by L'Observateur while she was at her daughter's bedside at the Ziguinchor Peace Hospital, Zeynabou Bilal recounted the hell she experienced alongside Prosper Kénon, the father of her children. She described him as "an alcoholic, jealous, and violent man."
"Prosper was a jealous, violent man and he spent all his time beating me," insists the woman of Malian origin.
She adds: "He also abused our children. He constantly sent them to the store to buy him alcohol. One day, drunk as a Pole, he threw the television at Omar, our eldest. I could no longer bear this violence. Weary of the war, I asked a friend for help so that he could continue his studies peacefully. He has been there for two years and is continuing his education peacefully."
After fleeing with her children, she thought she had them safe. But Prosper, in a drunken state, came to take them by force from the church.
"He was drunk and took the children by force," said the interviewee of the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
A few hours later, tragedy struck. Two-year-old Junior died in the fire started by his father. His sister, Khady, was seriously burned and is in a coma fighting for her life in the hospital.
A devastated Zeynabou Bilal emphasizes the pain of loss and the injustice of the rumors: "I try to be strong for my daughter, but I need support, not insults. What I went through with Prosper, only my children and I know."
She also clarified that she was not married to Prosper, denying rumors that her ex-partner acted out of revenge after she asked him for a divorce.
