Cité Millionnaire : le récit glaçant d’une femme mariée piégée par un livreur
An 18-year-old delivery driver of Guinean nationality has been brought before the Dakar prosecutor's office on suspicion of kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and rape of a 27-year-old married woman residing in Grand-Yoff (Cité Millionnaire). These assaults are alleged to have resulted in a pregnancy of approximately three months.
The ordeal of the victim, AD Diallo, a wife and mother, reportedly began last January. In her complaint filed on April 7, she explains that she was approached by the accused, I. Ba. "Despite the young woman's repeated refusals, citing her status as a wife, the suspect allegedly persisted, claiming a simple friendly relationship based on their belonging to the same community," reports L'Observateur.
The newspaper of the Future Media Group (Gfm) adds that the delivery man initially sought to "gain the victim's trust by showing a strong interest in her two-year-old child," a maneuver that allowed him to obtain her contact details.
The situation then took a turn for the worse when he allegedly pretended to walk her home before leading her to a room in Millionaire City. There, after locking the door, he allegedly forced her to have sex. Subsequently, the suspect allegedly blackmailed her by simulating the recording of a compromising video, threatening to release it to her husband to force him to endure further non-consensual sexual encounters.
The decisive intervention of a witness
The intervention of a security guard proved decisive. "This key witness, K. Fall, recounts being alerted in the middle of the night by screams and a struggle. He states that the victim was desperately trying to escape, while her attacker was preventing her. Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, the woman reportedly confided in him that she was being blackmailed with a video," the same source specifies.
The witness then grabbed onto the suspect's motorcycle to prevent his escape, which ended in an accident: the driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. The victim was eventually rescued by his brother, who had been alerted in the meantime.
The evidence in the case is considered overwhelming, including medical confirmation of a three-month pregnancy, in addition to the security guard's testimony. Arrested on April 18 in an ambush, I. Ba was taken into custody before being brought before a judge. When questioned by investigators, "he attempted to defend himself, alleging a conspiracy," the Gfm headline adds.
