Concept « Armée-Nation » : Quand la gendarmerie nationale ouvre ses portes à la jeunesse
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, students from Boushra School experienced an enriching immersion in the Samba Diéry Diallo district, discovering two emblematic units of the national gendarmerie: the mounted cavalry group and the motorcycle group.
At the mounted cavalry, the children were amazed by the elegance and discipline of the service horses. They discovered the daily care given to the mounts as well as the different missions carried out by this unit, including maintaining order, patrols and ceremonial escorts.
This visit also offered the students a special moment of close contact with the horses, which they were able to approach, pet and even ride.
The visit continued at the motorcycle unit, where the students witnessed demonstrations of skill and precision performed by the motorcyclists, according to Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, head of the National Gendarmerie's Communication Division.
Through a fun and engaging awareness session, the gendarmes emphasized the importance of respecting the Highway Code and road safety rules. The children also learned about the emergency missions carried out by this unit, including clearing roads, rapid escorts, and priority interventions.
To conclude this morning full of discoveries, the students immortalized these moments through souvenir photos.
This educational and civic outing will remain etched in the memory of the students and will strengthen the links between youth and the defense and security forces, while also inspiring new vocations in some to serve the nation, according to the same source.
