On Monday, April 4, 2026, the Dakar Regional Narcotics Brigade (BRS), under the authority of the OCRTIS (Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking), dismantled a drug trafficking network operating along the coast. A major operation resulted in the seizure of 41.6 kg of cannabis and the arrest of three individuals.

The investigation began following an operational tip-off reporting a nighttime landing of a pirogue carrying drugs. The illicit substance was allegedly transported from the beach to the home of a local trafficker nicknamed "Thieum".

After a reconnaissance phase, the police raided the residence of the main suspect. There, they surprised EHF (alias Thieum), a 44-year-old butcher, in the company of CK, a fisherman of about 36 years old. The search of the premises immediately yielded results: two large packages and seven small bags of cannabis were discovered in F.'s bedroom, along with packaging materials (scissors, paper, sisal bags).

The canoe captain is behind bars.

Continuing their offensive, the officers launched an assault on a neighboring house belonging to the pirogue's captain, nicknamed "Dické." The latter, identified as MD, a 50-year-old fisherman, was apprehended by officers from the Dakar BRS (Brigade de Recherche et de Sécurité), although the search of his home did not reveal any additional contraband.

The final inventory drawn up by the authorities lists 41,600 kg of Indian hemp, 45,000 FCFA in cash, three Android phones used to coordinate the trafficking and various cutting and packaging equipment.

During initial questioning, EHF admitted to owning the seized drugs. MD, for his part, admitted to arranging transport and delivery by sea. However, a point of contention remains: the captain claims to have delivered four packages, while his accomplice maintains he only received two.

The three suspects were taken into custody by Prosecutor Saliou D., head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office, according to Seneweb sources. They now face serious charges: criminal conspiracy, possession and trafficking of drugs, complicity in drug trafficking, and money laundering.
