The Urban Security Unit of the Kaolack Central Police Station brought two vendors from the Ockass market in Saloum before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane on Wednesday. They are being prosecuted for the illegal possession and sale of pharmaceutical products and endangering the lives of others.

It all began on Sunday, May 11, 2026, when local Urban Security officers acted on a tip about the illegal sale of pharmaceutical products at the Occass market in Kaolack. The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals: A. Wade, 37 years old, a vendor, and SM Wade, 26 years old, also a vendor at the same market.

During their interrogations, the two suspects admitted to obtaining their supplies at the Ockass market in Touba. A search of their shop led to the discovery of various pharmaceutical products as well as the sum of 1,510,000 CFA francs found in the possession of A. Wade.

Unauthorized products that are dangerous to health

To determine the exact nature of the seized products, investigators requested the expertise of specialists from the Central Division of the Senegalese Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (ARP). Their conclusions were unequivocal: the products had not been authorized by the ARP, and their consumption exposes users to serious health risks, according to Seneweb sources.

At the end of the procedure, A. Wade and SM Wade, both born in Touba, were brought before Prosecutor Abass Yaya Wane of the High Court of Kaolack on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, for illegal possession and sale of pharmaceutical products and endangering the lives of others.
