Décès de Khadija Sow : la belle-famille dément « tout acte de violences» contre la victime
In response to accusations circulating since the tragic death of Khadija Sow, a pregnant TikToker, the family of her husband, Moustapha Seck, as well as those of Ousmane Mbaye and Marème Fall, have broken their silence. In a statement, they call for respect for the victim's memory and insist on the lack of evidence of violence.
"According to the information currently available and closely monitored by the defendants' counsel, there is no formal evidence to establish that Moustapha Seck committed any violence against his wife," the Seck family stated, also expressing concern about "the reclassification that occurred during the investigation" in this sordid case.
In this document, which we offer you in full, she recalls the presumption of innocence while reaffirming her confidence in the Senegalese justice system.
Case of Mr. Moustapha Seck, Mr. Ousmane Mbaye and Ms. Marème FALL v. Public Prosecutor
STATEMENT FROM THE FAMILY OF THE DEFENDANTS
The family of Mr. Moustapha Seck, as well as those of Mr. Ousmane Mbaye and Mrs. Marème Fall, wish to speak publicly following recent developments relating to the tragic death of Khadija Sow Seck.
First and foremost, the family wishes to reiterate its profound sorrow at the passing of Khadija, a young pregnant woman, whose loss constitutes an immense human tragedy. In this painful moment, the family calls for respect for her memory and for dignity in the handling of this matter.
For several days, information has been circulating widely, particularly on social media, seriously implicating Moustapha Seck, who is now being prosecuted for murder following a reclassification of the charges during the investigation. This extremely serious development has caused widespread incomprehension, especially since no new evidence appears, at this stage, to justify such a change.
The family wishes to reiterate firmly that, according to the information currently available and closely monitored by the defendants' legal counsel, no formal proof establishes that Moustapha Seck committed any act of violence against his wife. They further emphasize that the medical certificate concerning the cause of death never concluded that it resulted from violence or blows.
The forensic findings suggest a scalp hematoma attributed to "a blunt force trauma".
However, it is essential to clarify that such a term, in forensic medicine, refers to any object or hard surface that can cause an impact, including in the context of an accidental fall, particularly against furniture.
Mr. Moustapha Seck's consistent statements indicate that his wife had complained of headaches before falling in the bedroom and hitting a dresser, then collapsing a few hours later. This version, far from being contradicted, appears consistent with the medical evidence, which also mentions decompensated dilated cardiomyopathy, a serious condition that can lead to sudden death.
It is also worth noting that Moustapha Seck immediately took the necessary steps to transport his wife to the hospital, hoping to save her life. This action demonstrates a genuine desire to help and cannot be interpreted otherwise.
Furthermore, the family expresses its deep concern following the questioning of Ousmane Mbaye and Marême Fall for alleged failure to assist a person in danger. Based on the known facts, nothing establishes any culpable omission on their part, as the victim was treated and taken to a medical facility.
The family deeply regrets the spread of unfounded rumors and accusations, which have contributed to creating a climate of preemptive condemnation, seriously damaging the honor and dignity of those involved.
She calls on everyone to exercise restraint and responsibility.
She wishes to reiterate that the presumption of innocence is a fundamental principle that must be respected by everyone, even in times of collective emotion. The truth in this case can only be established through a rigorous investigation, based on verified facts and scientific analysis.
The family reiterates its confidence in the justice system and calls for the full truth to be revealed, with respect for everyone's rights and free from any external pressure.
