Rapper Alassane Diallo, known as Djily, aka Doff Ndèye, is going through a particularly difficult time. Detained since June 24, 2024, at the Kaolack Prison, the artist has just lost his mother, Awa Guèye, who died on Mawlid Day. This death represents a devastating blow for the rapper, who had a very close bond with his mother.
A legal case under investigation
Placed in custody, Doff Ndèye has completed his first year of pre-trial detention. The investigating judge has charged him with "illegal possession of a weapon" and "attempted murder" of B. Faye. This case follows an incident that occurred during a concert in Ndofane, Kaolack, where the rapper accused the victim of deliberately breaking the windshield of his vehicle.
JAMRA's humanitarian intervention
Faced with this tragic situation, the Islamic NGO JAMRA, through Mame Makhtar Guèye, who recently spoke, he says, with Abdou Aziz Diop, the rapper's lawyer, is making an urgent request to the judicial authorities. The organization strongly hopes that the Public Prosecutor grants Doff Ndèye provisional release for purely humanitarian reasons, so that he can mourn his mother alongside his grieving family.
An encouraging precedent
JAMRA relies on a recent precedent to support its request. Last January, Ndella Madior Diouf, owner of the "Yeurmeundé" nursery, benefited from a similar measure following the death of her father. This "conditional release" allowed her, under strict supervision, to attend the funeral while returning to her cell each evening.
An exemplary filial relationship
The NGO emphasizes the depth of the rapper's bond with his late mother. Doff Ndèye "overflowed with affection" towards his mother, to the point of having "invested a fortune to buy her a well-equipped house." This filial devotion reinforces, according to JAMRA, the legitimacy of his request for temporary freedom.
A call for compassion from the authorities
JAMRA is calling for a measure similar to that granted to Ndella Madior Diouf to be applied to Alassane Diallo. This conditional release would allow the young man to "mourn the death of his beloved mother" in dignified conditions, while respecting the requirements of justice.
The organization concludes its appeal with a prayer: "May Allah cover Sokhna Awa Guèye with His Mantle of Mercy and welcome her into His Holy Paradise."
