Diamaguène Sicap Mbao : Images choquantes d'une boulangerie clandestine démantelée
The Diamaguène Sicap Mbao district police station dismantled an illegal bakery on November 26, 2025. Seven people were arrested in unsanitary premises where bread was produced in appalling hygiene conditions.
The police acted on operational intelligence. They had been informed of the existence of an illegal bakery in the Biafra area. A response team went to the location to verify this information.
Law enforcement officers first arrested the owner of the establishment. A search was then carried out in his presence at the bakery premises.
What the police discovered was absolutely shocking. The premises reeked of a foul odor. Earthworms crawled on the floor. Domestic animals, including cats, roamed freely in the bread production area.
Investigators found two local ovens preheated with coal. Fifteen bags of flour were stored in the immediate vicinity of rubbish. Four bags of salt had been opened and left unprotected.
A bag of sugar was open and exposed to the air, attracting insects. Police discovered sixty trays, fifty-five of which were filled with baguettes. These loaves were covered by unsuitable bags. Flies and other insects swarmed around the food.
The bread production conditions violated all hygiene regulations. Four jerrycans filled with water were used to prepare the bread. A local dough mixer did not meet any sanitary standards.
Two motorcycles were parked on the premises. They were used to deliver bread produced under these unsanitary conditions to customers in the neighborhood.
An owner who had been operating for several years
The owner was questioned on site. He admitted to being in charge of this illegal bakery. He confessed to running this business for several years without any administrative authorization.
The man employed six people to run his illegal business. These six employees were also arrested during the police operation.
Law enforcement took immediate action. All the equipment found at the scene was seized. It was placed under seal and will serve as evidence.
The bakery premises have been administratively closed. No more bread production will be possible there.
The seven individuals arrested have been taken into custody at the police station. They face several serious charges.
The charges against them are criminal conspiracy, endangering the lives of others, and producing food unfit for consumption. They are also being prosecuted for selling food dangerous to health and for failing to comply with regulations governing bakery and pastry businesses in Senegal.
