Diaspora : Le cri de détresse des Sénégalais du Canada, menacés d'expulsion à cause de leurs passeports !
The Senegalese community in Canada is sounding the alarm. In a press release issued by Dieylani on behalf of several compatriots, they denounce a critical situation regarding passport issuance. For several months, they have been facing "abnormally long delays, often without any clear communication or follow-up on their applications."
This administrative paralysis is not without consequences. The delays directly impact the immigration status of students and workers. The press release highlights "concerning human consequences," including the blocking of immigration procedures, the inability to renew essential documents, and a "real risk of losing legal status in Canada."
The document also relays poignant testimonies from members of the diaspora. “Because of the delay, I almost lost my status,” confides MD, while another user, AL, laments that “the services are unreachable.” Faced with what they describe as a “near-total lack of communication,” Senegalese people in Canada say they are ready to take action. Several members affirm that they are “ready to contribute concretely, including financially, to improve passport production capacity locally.”
The demands are clear: an immediate reduction in processing times, improved communication, and increased consular resources. A petition has also been launched to directly appeal to the Senegalese authorities regarding this "consular distress" which is jeopardizing the stability of many Senegalese citizens.
