Dommages causés par les préparatifs du 4 Avril à Thiès : Des commerçants réclament des compensations face aux pertes financières
After the temporary closure of their activities for the needs of the preparations for the celebration, in Thiès, of the 66th anniversary of the Independence of Senegal, business managers have stepped forward to denounce huge financial losses.
Several shopkeepers located on Avenue Caen, which hosted the April 4th parade, are expressing their dissatisfaction with the disruptions caused by the Independence Day celebrations. They are also demanding compensation for their losses.
"A situation that has severely impacted our revenues," complain these managers of multi-services, money transfer points and sewing workshops who were forced to close their businesses and suspend their activities for nearly twenty days before the event.
Many of them also complained that their shop fronts had been demolished during the clearing operations, without any compensation being offered. Despite several appeals to the relevant authorities, they have received no positive response. They say they have received no concrete answers to date.
"We had to contact the authorities, they promised to pass on our request, but so far we haven't received the slightest response," these shopkeepers confided, emphasizing that the installation of marquees in front of their shops for several days has aggravated the situation, resulting in a significant loss of earnings.
