Drame à Saint-Louis : Un nouveau-né, cordon ombilical intact, retrouvé sans vie dans un jardin public
On Monday, April 13, 2026, around 2 p.m., the lifeless body of a newborn girl was found wrapped in a black loincloth, her umbilical cord still attached, in a public garden opposite the Abdou Diouf Elementary School on the island of Saint-Louis. No signs of violence were found on the body, according to Seneweb sources.
It was the wife of the neighborhood representative, whose house faces the garden, who made the discovery. Alerted by voices outside, she went to investigate and found the newborn's body. She immediately alerted her husband, who informed the Saint-Louis district police station.
After the standard police report was filed, the body was taken by firefighters to the morgue at the Saint-Louis Regional Hospital for an autopsy. The newborn's mother has not yet been identified. The public prosecutor has been notified and an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of this tragedy.
